"My husband and I had never been to 1st Colony Inn. Bill found it online and having gone to OBX for years staying in rental houses or on the beach hotels, he found what we call in all the positive ways "a hotel for grown-ups." Not to say there weren't kids enjoying the space - there were - but rooms with 4 poster beds, wine and cheese hour, gorgeous views, huge manicured lawns - fountain, gardens, hideaway rocking chairs, lovely pool and the staff! We stayed here for our 40th wedding anniversary and did not know that our adult children would surprise us with champagne, a dozen roses and Godiva chocolates! All put together artistically in our room by Kanda who also made and served the breakfast - covid style. Cannot wait to go again."

"We first heard about the Inn back in December when we came to check out venues and meet with wedding planners for our wedding, Samantha & Taylor from Coastyle Weddings & Events recommended the Inn. We went to visit it and knew it was the one! Everyone there is so welcoming, we LOVE Kanda, she's awesome. We have stayed at the Inn a couple times so far and it has been great! Very clean, the breakfast and afternoon social are a plus too. Still very organized and a nice stay with all the new rules right now! We can't wait for our wedding and to stay there for years to come."

"Our room was very cozy. The location was in a great spot. However, the breakfast service was overwhelming. They only had one person that was handling breakfast service and the front desk. I really hope they can get more help, this can be very stressful for one person to handle. Overall we enjoyed our stay. "

"Very nice historic building with clean and comfortable rooms. It's just across the street from the beach and near a lot of different restaurants. Not for people who like to sleep in, though. As an older building, you can hear people walking above you or outside. The rooms don't have curtains, so it can be quite bright in the morning."

"Our first stay of many more to come! When we checked in, the warm hospitality given to us was instantly a home run - the staff was so friendly and excited to have us ... the personalised print out of a welcome letter and the wine bar was spot on after a five hour drive from! The room was amazing, with plenty of room we had a separate day bed for our son and so well decorated, the antique furnishings were a definite charm! The breakfast was amazing, it was really well presented, the food was delicious and just the right amount and most importantly the young lady serving us was just so precious and kind - she really took great care of the family and had such a wonderful attitude! When we misplaced my wife’s wedding ring, they all took such great care of us, help us search the entire place until we found it - all that extra hard work from the staff and they all kept a positive attitude! "This place was amazing. I didn't know what to expect as this was the venue for a friend of mine's wedding. I was told to book a hotel room here, this is where the event was going to be held. I did as I was told. However, upon arrival (late Friday night) the property was gorgeous. This is a bed and breakfast feel with the professionalism you'd expect at any hotel/property. The rooms were comfortable, the decor was perfect and the upgrades were new, but with a classic look. The food and staff were great and I would highly recommend this for a weekend getaway, a week vacation and if you're looking to get married in the area... this is your place."
