"The gentleman that prepared the breakfast each morning was so very nice and so prompt with bringing the hot dish out. The food was wonderful! Plenty of food to go around and we looked forward to what he was serving each morning. The kind young lady with the glasses was very accommodating. The room was just as advertised and the Inn had plenty of perks such as the beach chairs and pool! The pillows in the room left something to be desired. Other than that, a wonderful stay. "

"We had such an amazing time! Without hesitation, I would return to First Colony Inn on my next trip to Nags Head! I loved the historic charm of the grounds and building and the service and hospitality were awesome! The breakfast each morning was amazing and the wine and charcuterie each afternoon were the perfect touch! From the rockers on the porch to having beach chairs ready to go each morning, I was impressed! Don't change a thing! I have told everyone I know this is a hidden gem!"

"Our stay at the First Colony Inn was great! Will definitely come back. Everyone was welcoming and eager to please you. Loved the sunset views and just relaxing at the beach, pool and on the balcony. All of the breakfasts were delicious and appreciated-Thanks to the chef and servers. We enjoyed the wine socials and met many nice people. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and housekeeping did a superb job. All of the office staff, manager and grounds keeper were pleasant to talk to and we feel went above and beyond to make our stay great. Our thanks and appreciation to all."

"Great inn right across the street from the beach. They had a great breakfast (the vegan option wasn’t as good as the non-vegan option, but it was far from the worst food I’ve been served; it was a solid B). The proximity to great restaurants was also a big plus. The library, pool, and outdoor spaces were great amenities. The rooms were quite comfortable, and the porch was truly lovely."

"Absolutely FANTASTIC (affordable) option for the Outer Banks! Truly whoever set this hotel up is a master of hospitality, with a gift for knowing how to keep guests entertained, relaxed, and have everything they need ready for them. From bikes to beach chairs, to plenty of sitting areas and rocking chairs and swings, to beautifully maintained lawn and picnic areas for adults and kids alike, a beautiful private pool near the garden, and a wonderful way of doing breakfast where you automatically have a dining reservation on arrivals, or if you can’t make it they will give you a box to go. Besides the hotel, the staff is great. We arrived some early, so they let us change in their bathroom and use the private beach access while we waited. We also had to call the manager at 11pm to ask how to use the AC and she was so nice and forgiving and never made us feel like a bother. Truly, like staying in a family’s home. Such a wonderful stay and we highly recommend!"

Loved the location being on the Southern end...Breakfast each morning was wonderful and actually took us up to the 3:30 Social Hour with wine/snacks! The pool was very relaxing, as was the on grounds hammocks! Loved too, beach chairs were provided to use on the beach!! The veranda porch always had a breeze to relax in...I could go on & on! "We love the First Colony Inn. We’ve stayed here several times and will definitely return. This historic inn has been restored and is truly a unique gem. It feels like you’ve stepped back in time to a more easy, relaxed way of life. The decks with rocking chairs and swings encourages relaxation and slowing down to really enjoy your stay. The wonderful breakfast each morning and afternoon wine and cheese hour are added bonuses. The grounds are beautiful with abundant flowers and gardens. Food & drinks: Great breakfast each morning and afternoon happy hour with wine, cheese, fruit, etc."

"I have been a repeat guest at the inn many times over the years. It is a great way to enjoy OBX if you don't have the time or number of people to rent a house. First Colony is much homier than a regular hotel. It has charm, great wrap around porches and beautiful gardens. All you need to bring are your shorts and bathing suit. They supply the beach chairs, beach towels and bicycles. They have a lovely swimming pool and are across the street from the beach. We love the delicious breakfasts and afternoon wine and snacks. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the place is very clean. I gave 4 stars for service only because I would like them to return to the pre-covid days of daily housekeeping in the rooms. They have a beautiful library but it closes at 6:00. This has been my only complaint over the years. This is the only shared indoor space and it would be great to hangout there in the evenings, especially when the weather is bad. Management said they have to lock up when staff leave for the day because the front desk isn't locked. That would be easy enough to change with a roll down panel. I noticed other gusts complaining about it too. It is a major drawback to the homey, relaxed feel to the place."

What an amazing stay, from the front desk , the young girl who helped seat us each morning for breakfast, the amazing food, the clean comfortable room, beautiful grounds and the sweet housekeeping staff who came by to check if we needed anything.
