"I had a great stay at this charming inn. The staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was amazing with a lovely continental spread in addition to a served hot dish. The evening social also featured some delicious items that were made in-house. I hope the chef never leaves! My room was extremely comfortable and cozy, and I loved that it didn't look like every other chain hotel room."

Breakfast was homemade every morning and was very satisfying! Staff really treated us well and were also vey willing to talk about the history of the property! "Great Breakfast! Clean! Older facility with Antique furniture. Had towel warming rack in bathroom. Toilet and tub were very low if you have issues getting back up. I loved it and would definitely go again. had chairs outside your room on the porch to sit and look over the gardens and outdoor pool. Only thing that would make it better was an oceanview. You could hear the ocean but not see it. Great stay would stay again. "

"We always enjoy our stays at First Colony. Set back off the busy beach road it is secluded and peaceful Short walk to beach. Interesting decor in each room. all staff so friendly and accommodating. Love the Happy Hour where we can talk to other guests or sit alone. Hors d’oeuvres always good with fresh fruits, quality cheeses, some meats, crackers, etc. good wine. Breakfast is always amazing! In addition to normal stuff they will have a special dish like German Baked Eggs this time. And they use cloth napkins and real stainless. No plastic or paper! Classy! Quiet, wonderful staff, great location. Don’t change!"

"This hotel was everything we hoped for. It was off-season and very quiet, which is what we were looking for. Daily breakfast was awesome. Wine & Cheese hour was great. Hostess was amazing. The character and nostalgia won us over. This was our first visit to Outer Banks, and we will be returning. Noteworthy details: Hostess was amazing! She gave us great insight on places to eat. She's an asset!!"

"Me Colliers review states it all. This place is quaint, charming, warm and historical. The staff was lovely. The rooms are cozy and though we were there in November when most plants are on the downslide the grounds and garden were still lovely. Would definitely stay here again!!!
